A SINGER who is to appear on Robbie Williams’ next album will perform in front of Huddersfield rugby league fans.
Singer/songwriter Laura Critchley will sing at The Galpharm Stadium before Huddersfield Giants take on Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at 6pm on Saturday.
Laura’s voice has been likened to Sheryl Crow, Natalie Imbruglia and Leann Rimes and it prompted Robbie Williams to ask her to sing on his new, as-yet-untitled album.
Laura, 23, from Liverpool, recorded the songs at Robbie’s home studio in Los Angeles.
She said: “I thought I was just going to be recording a couple of lines of backing vocals, but I ended up singing main parts on one of the songs.’’
Another fellow musician who appreciates Laura's voice is Ronan Keating, who asked her to perform at a special ball in aid of Cancer Research.
In addition to Laura playing a set of her own songs Ronan asked her to duet with him on Last Thing On My Mind, the duet he previously released with Leann Rimes.
Laura has supported the likes of Deacon Blue, The Sugababes and has performed solo at various gigs around London and Liverpool.
She came to fame via her MySpace page and was signed to independent label Big Print Music.
She is managed by Jeremy Marsh, who also manages Take That, Annie Lennox and Craig David. She will play her first festival this year at The Isle of Wight’s new stage The Big Top on June 14.
